Recently, Infineon and Amkor announced a deepened partnership, with both parties operating a dedicated chip packaging and testing center at Amkor's manufacturing base in Porto, Portugal.

The chip packaging and testing center is expected to commence operations in the first half of 2025. Amkor will expand its facilities in Porto and operate production lines, offering dedicated cleanroom space. Infineon will provide an on-site team for engineering and development support.

Both parties stated that this cooperation further strengthens the European semiconductor supply chain, making it more resilient.

Last year, also to strengthen the European semiconductor supply, Amkor and GlobalFoundries announced a collaboration. GlobalFoundries plans to move its 12-inch wafer-level packaging production line from its factory in Dresden, Germany, to Amkor's facility in Porto, Portugal, to create a large-scale packaging project in Europe. This factory was completed in January this year.
